Anyone thinking of taking their first steps to becoming a motorbike, moped or scooter rider needs to check out a great free of charge online training programme put together by the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA): RIDE FREE.
The DVSA are the people who oversee all rider training and testing, as well as maintain vehicle standards, so the programme is loaded with great tips and advice straight from the people who really matter on two wheels.
It takes the form of a fun interactive quiz that introduces new riders to the most important rules of the road. There are six modules, covering topics such as the Highway Code, hazard perception, essential kit to wear and advice on bike maintenance, the links between rider behaviour and safety, and the main areas where riders encounter problems on the road.
The course takes a couple of hours to complete, but it's a great introduction to life on powered two wheels, and it's a good idea to take it before you embark on your CBT. A lot of CBT trainers will advise you to check it out before you attend their course, as it's seen as being really valuable.
By the end of it you'll have gained a huge amount of knowledge as to what to expect, and what to do, when you hit the open road on your motorbike, moped or scooter.
And the best bit: all that advice comes complete free – it's called RIDE FREE for a reason!
Even if you've passed your CBT and think you've got this kind of information sorted, there's always plenty more to learn, so check it out today. You can find it at: https://www.safedrivingforlife.info/ridefree
